Slovenian success is focused on an innovating society while respecting the country’s values and natural surroundings, the Prime Minister of Slovenia, told the World Government Summit (WSG) 2017.

“Advanced technological solutions drive progress, enabling transfer of goods and ideas faster than ever, but what is not clear is, if all these discoveries are bringing us to the peak of civilisation, or its downfall,” His Excellency Miro Cerar said, pointing out that in some cases a more tech-based world had led to exploitation, armed conflicts, and destroyed the environment.

Cerar suggested that the real value of science and technology could only benefit progress if it was based on sound foundations, representing a mix of the following

:Principles of true ethical, legal and other values

• The capacity for cooperation
• Strong awareness of the importance of sustainability

Slovenia’s sustainability was anchored in its way of life, which entails a strong reliance on its moral values, progressive experiences, technology, a strong educational system, as well as creativity, coupled with respect for work and nature, according to Cerar.

“Exports count for 75% of our GDP. Our long engineering tradition by the virtue of both, unleashing creativity and discipline, is based on our inquisitiveness and smartness seeking innovation and perfection,” he said.

Small business is respected in a country, which preaches tolerance and instills trust and an identity in its citizens, looking after their wellbeing.

“Digital transformation must not be at expense of the emotional dimension, and foster inclusive sustainable growth, teaching our youths the values we believe in."

The Prime Minister pointed out that the country’s vision demanded development of its society to go hand in hand with protecting nature to achieve a high standard of living.

“We are the first government in the world to have received authorisation to operate a ‘State’ Cloud. Our vision is to co-shape

global trends and leave our planet in a good condition to our children,” he concluded.
