Pods zooming through tubes – travel of the future is closer than you think
Imagine dumping your car, regular metro or train ride, and travelling in a
pod flying through tubes – science fiction or reality?
“It sounds like science fiction, but it’s not; it is real and happening,”
Brogan Bambrogan, CTO & Co-founder of Hyperloop, told delegates at the
2016 World Government Summit. “We are doing the hardcore engineering
to bring this technology from the drawing board to real hardware into
reality.”
He continued to explain that a full system test is happening in Nevada in
the United States by the end of this year, and as a result, the transport
system of the future could change landscapes within five to six years.
What’s more it could be priced as an affordable travel ticket within 10
years.
“The aired pods are an extremely smooth, comfortable, safe and fast ride
– like in an elevator [but] with no stops – taking you directly to your
destination and easily added when passengers require them.
“They are extremely efficient and could be built over-and under-ground,”
adding that it would take as little as 15 minutes to get from Abu Dhabi to
Dubai.
