Governments from around the world, a university and a charitable giving app were awarded for their efforts in pioneering tech and smart services on the final day of the World Government Summit 2017.

The awards, presented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, began with the World GovTechioneers Race, with Dubai Police, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai and VisitAbuDhabi winning the security and safety, transport and infrastructure and tourism categories.

Other winners were Learning Potential by the Australian Government Department of Education, Guardians of Health by the Brazil Ministry of Health, Arrival App by the Federal Office for Refugees in Germany, Estonia’s Eesti Energy - real-time energy use analysis, Vendors@gov from Singapore and Mobile Government of Kazakhstan.

The Estonian government’s e-health records, the Ministry of Transport in Singapore’s passenger testing of self-driving cars, the Netherlands Internet of Things Living Lab were also given awards under the best government emerging technologies categories. 

Project Oaken received first prize in the Blockchain Virtual Govhack category. Hypergive, a digital funding source for homeless people, was awarded under the UAE’s 2017 Year of Giving.

Finally, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government won a challenge set down by the World Government Summit 2017 to envision what the government of the future will look like.
