Saeed Al Tayer added that by 2030, DEWA aims to have 41 percent of its desalinated water supply produced by reverse osmosis – indicating a significant increase from its current five percent – and representing a Dh13 billion saving.

“By 2030 we will be able to produce 750 gallons of water per day compared to our current rate of 470 million gallons,” said Al Tayer. “DEWA adopts a clear strategy to ensure that by 2030, 100 percent of desalinated water will be produced by clean energy.”

Al Tayer added that along with a new underground water storage initiative underway, the UAE’s water production will significantly increase in efficiency and effectiveness.

“We are carrying out initiatives based on the UAE’s wise leadership for a post-oil strategy to keep pace with the fourth industrial revolution,” he said. “In the UAE, we are prepared for change and are confident in the innovation of our Emirati generations to keep pace with the future.”
