Egypt has three main pillars to address in order to resume its leading role in the world, and for it's citizens to live better lives, its Prime Minister has said.

Speaking during Day 2 of the World Government Summit about how Egypt is preparing for the future, His Excellency Sherif Ismail, Prime Minister of Egypt, listed:

1. National security, plus terrorist operations and extremist groups are a huge challenge to Egypt’s borders and the region.

2. Economic challenges are an inseparable part of Egypt's national security. Dealing with unemployment and attracting investment – from both local and Arab entities – in order to achieve growth rates that are felt by the average citizen.

3. The on-going leading role of Egypt in the region, and its support for all Arab countries in light of current conditions.

The Prime Minister also added that the main pillars that concern Egyptian citizens are health services and education.

“In the past, the government was not providing these services at real value. There was some support, but service and infrastructure were deteriorating,” he said. “This had a negative impact.

“We want to focus on developing our services, especially those concerned with [access for] poor citizens. Education, health, transport and housing are all of concern to citizens. We hope to have results within a short period – not 5 or 10 years – we want to achieve positive results within three years.”
